Find an Area of Interest

   Find Address, City or Zipcode
  • To find a Street Address: Type in the street number and name, city, and zipcode, then select Find.
You can usually omit either the city or zipcode, but entering both works best.
  • To find a City: Type in the city name and select Find.
  • To find a a Zipcode: Type in a zipcode number and select Find.
  • Finding locations within Florida are currently supported.
   Find Parcel ID
  • To find a Parcel ID: Type in the parcel ID select Find.
You can enter a partial parcel ID.
  • Search results are limited to 50 records.
  • Parcels in most Florida counties are searched.

Zoom In and Recenter : Click and drag a box on the map to zoom into a specific area.
Or click on the map to zoom in and recenter the map on the location you clicked.

Zoom Out : When you click in the map, the map will zoom out a factor of 2x.

Recenter Only : When you click in the map, the map will recenter to the location you clicked.

Pan : When you click in the map, you can hold the mouse down to drag the map. It will recenter where you let go.

Zoom All Layers : This will zoom to the state of Florida.

Zoom to Bounding Box or Point : Enter coordinates for a rectangle or point to zoom to. Default coordinates are in Albers HPGN meters coordinate system. Use the Change Map Projection tool to enter Lat/Long coordinates.

Go Back : Return to previous map extent.

Go Forward : Go forward to last map extent after using the Go Back tool. This tool will not be usable until the "Go Back" tool is used.

Directional Pan : When you click an arrow on the edge of the map, the map will move 1/4 of the distance across the map in the direction you selected.

Select Map Layers to View

The Legend tab is shown by default. Several tools are available for for controlling map layer visibility refreshing the map, and showing the map legend.

Several base map layers are provided by default. You can change map layers at any time.

Not all map layers are available in all areas of Florida. And not all map layers are visible at all map scales (zoom levels). Map layers draw from bottom to top.

Update Map : Click the "Update Map" button to refresh the map after you turn on or off a map layer. You can skip that step by using a map navigation tool to change the map location.

Show Map Legend : Click this button to display the map legend in a new window.

Download / Print a Map

Access the printing and downloading tools by clicking the Tools tab .

Print 11 x 8.5 Map : When you click this tool, you have the option of adding a custom title, then a finished map is generated in a new window.

Print 17 x 11 Map : When you click this tool, you have the option of adding a custom title, then a finished map is generated in a new window.

Generate Image : Use this tool to generate a large custom sized image. The current map area will be used to generate the image, therefore, the greater the number of pixels, the greater the output resolution. Remember the resolution of most imagery is no better than 1-foot per pixel, so going below that figure adds unnecessary processing and image size. Images are generated at 96dpi. Images up to 5000 x 5000 pixels have been tested. Right-click on the image to save to your hard drive. The image is JPG format, although Internet Explorer will sometimes only save as BMP.

Additional Tools

Identify Feature : Click in the map to select a feature and see the feature attributes. The feature will highlight in yellow. If more than one queryable map layer is visible, selected features from each queryable map layer will be presented.

Clear Identified Feature : Clears any selected features.

Measure Distance : When you click in the map you can measure distance of one or more line segments. You can click several times to define a perimeter or irregularly shaped line. The total distance will be displayed in feet. Double-click to end the line.

Change Map Size : This tool is under Tools tab . Click this button to change the map viewer image size. Three preset sizes are provided as well as a custom size. The custom size allows you to set the map image to exactly fit your monitor. Please note that large image sizes will take longer to refresh.

Change Map Projection : This tool is under Tools tab . Click this button to change the map projection (coordinate system). The default map projection is Albers HPGN meters. Lat/Long NAD83 and Lat/Long WGS84 are also available. GPS units normally display Lat/Long WGS84. If you change the map projection to Lat/Long, then you can zoom to a Lat/Long using the Zoom to Bounding Box or Point tool.

About the Data

Data Sources
All aerial photography and map layer data is acquired from federal, state, and local government sources. MapWise processes much of the data to make it more useful, or to create new layers that are derived from the original data.

Data Coverage
Some map layers do not cover the entire state. In some areas of the state, either the government has not mapped that area, or MapWise has not yet acquired the information. For more information on what is available where, please consult the Map Layer Directory or contact us.

Map Scale
Some map layers are not available at all map scales. For example, most aerial photography will not display until you zoom in to a scale of 1:34,000 or closer (i.e. smaller number). However, satellite imagery will only display when zoomed out further than a scale of 1:50,000.

Roads
Most urban areas and some rural areas are covered by accurate and up to date streets from local governments. However, some roads and road names may not be spatially accurate. In some areas you may see odd road name placement and road names where there are no road lines. Aerial imagery will always show the most accurate road locations. We are adding more accurate roads over time.

Addresses
As you may know, finding an address is an inexact science. MapWise utilizes a high-quality third-party vendor for address searching. In some cases, you may not see the roads where the address is found. In other cases, you can see the roads, but the address is not found. If you are looking for a particular parcel, address searching will get you close, but you need to display the parcels and use the identify tool to hone in on an exact parcel address.

Legend Name = Aerials 2004-2005 1-meter

All of the imagery in this group is 2004/2005 True Color 1-meter resolution and is available statewide. Most counties are 2004, except the southern Florida counties south of Orlando, which are 2005.

Our inventory of aerial photography is increasing over time. We are adding imagery as availability, cost, and time permits. If you need something we don't have or have any questions, please contact us and let us know what you need.
