Viewing Your Existing Custom Boundaries
Before creating new boundaries, you can view and manage your previously created custom boundaries.
Steps to View Existing Boundaries:
Navigate to the Custom Layers tab on the left sidebar.
Click on Custom Boundaries to turn on the layer.
Your existing custom boundaries will populate on the map with their assigned names (e.g., "Pam site", "Hillsboro site 3", "Macintosh site").
You can zoom to different areas to see boundaries you've created in various locations.
How to Create New Custom Boundaries
Create custom boundaries by selecting multiple parcels and combining them into one trackable boundary - perfect for potential acquisitions or site planning.
Step 1: Select Your Parcels
Multiple Selection Methods Available:
Click on the Select Parcels tab to access selection tools.
Choose your preferred selection method:
Select by Point
Most common method. Click individual parcels to select them.
Select by Polygon
Draw a shape on the map to select all parcels within that area.
Select by Radius
Place a point and drag out a radius (e.g., one mile) to select all parcels within that distance.
Select by Line
Draw a line to select parcels along that path.
Selected parcels will highlight in yellow as you click them.
Owner information for selected parcels will populate in the sidebar.
Step 2: Add to Custom Boundaries
Once you have your parcels selected, click Select Tasks.
Choose Add to Custom Boundaries.
Check Dissolve Parcels - This will show all selected parcels as one unified boundary on the map (recommended).
Click to proceed to the information form.
Step 3: Enter Boundary Information
Complete the Custom Boundary Form:
Site Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "YouTube site", "Downtown Acquisition").
Category: Assign a category such as "Potential Acquisition", "Active Project", or "Future Development".
County: This field auto-populates based on parcel location.
Notes: Add relevant information like "looks good", "needs follow-up", or project details.
Total Acreage: Automatically calculated (e.g., "28.5 Acres total").
Click Save Changes to create your custom boundary
How to Edit Custom Boundary Information
Update your custom boundary information as your project progresses - add notes about mailers sent, status updates, or new findings.
Method 1: Edit from the Map
Ensure the Custom Boundaries layer is turned on in Custom Layers.
Click on the Identify Map Feature tool (i-tool).
Click anywhere within your custom boundary site on the map.
The custom boundaries record will appear at the bottom of the info window.
Click Update Record to open the edit form.
Make your changes (e.g., add "sent mailers today" to notes).
Click Save Changes and then OK.
Method 2: Edit from the List
Navigate to the Custom Boundaries tab at the top.
In the Search sub-tab, either search for specific sites or click Show All.
Check the box next to the record you want to edit.
Click Edit Record in the toolbar.
Make your updates in the form.
Click Save Changes.
Managing Your Custom Boundaries
View and Search
Click on the Custom Boundaries tab at the top of the screen.
Use the search fields if you know specific site names or categories you're looking for.
Click Show All to display all your custom boundaries.
Click on any boundary name to see Record Details.
The map will highlight the selected boundary and show detailed information.
Use Zoom To to navigate directly to any specific site.
Export and Print
Export to Excel
Export all your custom boundaries records to a spreadsheet.
Print as PDF
Generate printable reports of individual boundaries with map views.
Add New Records
Create new custom boundary records manually by clicking "Add Record".
