Update & Manage Custom Boundaries

Find an existing custom boundary in the Custom Boundaries tab, then edit its details or update its shape with Update Geometry. There is no need to recreate it from scratch.

For creating a brand-new boundary, see Custom Boundaries.

How do I find and edit an existing boundary?

  1. Click the Custom Boundaries tab at the top of the sidebar.
  2. On the Search sub-tab, search by Site Name, Category, County, Notes, or Acres Total range, or leave the fields blank and click Show All.
  3. Select the boundary's checkbox in the results grid, then click Edit Record.
  4. Update Site Name, Category, County, Notes, or Acres Total in the form, then click Save Changes.

You should now see your changes reflected the next time you load the boundary's record.

Custom Boundaries Search sub-tab with Site Name, Category, County, Notes, and Acres Total fields, and Search, Show All, and Clear Form buttons.

How do I add more parcels to an existing boundary?

  1. Click Select Parcels on the taskbar and use any selection method (Point, Polygon, Radius, or Line) to click each new parcel you want to include.
  2. Click Done to close the selection toolbar, then open the Custom Boundaries tab.
  3. Find the boundary (by Site Name or Show All), select its checkbox, and click Edit Record.
  4. Click Update GeometryMatch to Selected Parcels, then Save Changes.

You should now see the boundary's shape include the newly-selected parcels.

What are all the Update Geometry options?

From an open boundary record, click Update Geometry to see four ways to reshape it, plus a Done button to close the window:

  • Match to Parcels: rebuilds the boundary from parcels.
  • Match to Selected Parcels: rebuilds the boundary from whatever parcels are currently selected on the map.
  • Select Parcels From Map: lets you pick parcels directly from this window.
  • Match to Custom Polygon: uses a shape you've drawn in Drawing Tools. Open Drawing Tools, create a project, use Add Polygon to draw the exact area, then choose this option and pick that project.

You should now see the boundary's outline update to match your chosen method. Click Zoom To from the Custom Boundaries list to review the new shape.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Use descriptive Site Names and Categories so boundaries are easy to find later (e.g. "Fruitville Road Acquisition").
  • Add progress notes (e.g. "mailer sent 5/1") in the Notes field to track outreach efforts over time.
  • Toggle Show All to list every boundary at once and jump between sites.
  • From the Custom Parcels grid, Export Records offers Tab Delimited or CSV (there's no Excel option here; that's specific to Parcel Search results). Print Records generates a PDF report.
