Elevation Overview

The Elevation layer group in MapWise provides digital elevation models (DEMs) and 5-foot contour maps to visualize terrain and elevation changes across Florida. These layers help identify slopes, ridges, and depressions—critical for evaluating buildability, grading, flood risk, and overall site suitability. When combined with parcel data, real estate professionals can quickly assess topographic constraints or advantages during land acquisition, development planning, or environmental review.

Use 'Elevation' map layers to:

• Overlay elevation contours and DEMs on parcels for a complete site assessment — no need to visit separate state or federal viewers
• Identify slopes that require grading, retention walls, or stormwater controls before construction
• Combine elevation with soils, wetlands, and flood zones in one session for engineering proposals
• Factor topography into appraisals — steep slopes or low-lying areas may reduce usable acreage and land value
